  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 ounces of chopped semisweet chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 egg yolks slightly beaten

  • ¾ cups of sugar
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 cups of heavy cream
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt

  • Directions:

First put the beaten egg yolks in a medium bowl. Than put the milk, sugar, cocoa powder and salt in a saucepan over medium heat making sure that you stir constantly until you bring the mixture to shimmer. While it might seem weird to add salt to a sweet treat it's good to know that this combination actually makes the sugar taste more pronounced. After the process is completed, take about half a cup of this mixture and gradually stir it with the egg yolks.

Put the mixture back into the saucepan continuing to stir until the mixture is thickened. Turn off the heat and mix the chopped chocolate until you get a smooth consistency. Refrigerate the mixture for about two hours and then add the cream and the vanilla extract freezing the mixture for another 2 hours and a half.
