Mango and Melon Dessert

Nothing goes better after a spicy meal than a refreshing dessert, made f fruits and spiced with exotic aromas. The mango and melon desert is great low calories treat which is more than simple to made, and a real treat, both healthy and tasteful.

Mango is one of the most popular and renowned tropical fruits cultivated and distributed widely in the whole world. Everything about mango inspires: its color, its smell, the juice and the taste – reason for which this wonderful fruit has a wide range of uses.
When it comes to its symbolical accents, mango is the national fruit of India, Philippines and Pakistan, while its symbolism reaches far beyond: it is used in wedding ceremonies, it is a symbol of attainment, or a as a part of a sacred ritual to worship Indian goddess f knowledge, music and arts.

Rich in dietary fibers, vitamins C, E and A, mango is generally a fruit used in the Asian cuisine, but other cultures uses it too. This sweet and pulpy fruits can be eaten raw; it can be pickled or inserted, among other ingredients, in various recipes.

Melons are high in vitamin C and anti-oxidant , they control blood pressure, they reduce the risk of heart attacks, help control weight and lower cholesterol and it’s great for the skin, leaving it radiant, pore-less and clear. This summer fruit has a wide range of uses in the kitchen and around it: it can be used in nutritious and delicious smoothies, it can be eaten raw or they can be turned into tasty pickles, or used in soups, salads or in various types of desserts, due to its sweet taste.

In order to prepare this tasty and rich mango and melons dessert, you’ll need the following ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups diced fresh mango
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • confectioners' sugar
  • 1 small watermelon (preferably seedless)
  • mint sprigs for garnish

  • The preparation steps include the following:
  • Take a blender and puree the mango together with 1 tbsp of water, until they reach a pudding consistency, then add the spices and the sugar. Stir well to keep its right consistency.
  • Cover the mixture and refrigerate it for 4 hours.
  • When ready to serve, cut the watermelon in half and use a baller to scoop out 2 balls of watermelon.
  • Arrange the puree into four shallow bowls and arrange melon balls on top.
  • Garnish with mint before serving .
