Peach Mousse Recipe

Originally a French specialty, mousse has become nowadays one of the most favorite desserts all over the world, with a high popularity and a huge variety of forms, textures and tastes. The peach mousse is one creamy and delightful dessert that absolutely needs to be tried one in a while.

Originally made with egg yolks, egg whites, sugar and chocolate, mousse is nowadays made more simply by using cream and eggs, with a wide range of available flavors. The large variety of mousse includes vanilla mousses, chocolate, marzipan, fruity mousses, coffee mousses, each with a unique taste. From creamy with a rich texture to a lightly, more fluffy one, mousses have been since a long period of time one favorite dessert among others, due to its easy preparation and its final result, which amazes every time.

Though the chocolate mousse is probably the most famous mousse out there, other variations are still incredible tasty. One can experiment a huge variety of ingredients used to flavor the mousse, using spices, line the nutmeg mousse, or the cinnamon mousse; mint is also included in some mouse recipes, but there are some savory mousses made with seafood, other kinds of meat and even vegetables.

Served either hot or cold, but most commonly cold, mousse recipes are always a great alternative when it comes to a healthy and easy treat.

Peaches are native to China, a place full of mystical beliefs. China is the place where peaches were consumed by the immortals, as a mystic fruits who gave longevity to the one who ate them. Since early times, peach were included in the cooking process due to their rich texture and great taste, and, since then, they have become an important part of many sweet treats and desserts worldwide.

The peach mousse recipe, which yields for 8 servings, has the huge advantage of containing only a small quantity of calories per serving: only 46 calories! Here’s what ingredients are included in the recipe:

  • 3 ounces of peach or orange gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 3 medium ripe peaches, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup light whipped cream
  • fresh mint and additional peach slices, for garnish

  • Dissolve the gelatin into water, using a large mixing bowl. Mix the peaches, the honey and the almond extract into a blender until they reach a smooth texture; stir in the gelatin mixture. Cover the mixture and put it into the refrigerator, for a couple of hours, until the mixture becomes syrupy.

    At this moment, beat the mixture at high speed, until it doubles its volume, and then fold in the whipped cream. Put again into the refrigerator, for an hour, until it reaches a firm texture. Before serving, garnish with the fresh mint and the peach slices.
